Replica Smith&Wesson Model 3.
The Smith&Wesson Model 3 was a simple action and vertical opening revolver produced by Smith&Wesson from 1870 to 1915.
It was produced in various variants and subvariants, including the Russian Model, named for having been supplied to the Armed Forces of Tsarist Russia (in 1871 20,000 Model 3 revolvers were commissioned in caliber .44 for the Russian Army) and the -Schofield-, named after Major George W. Schofield, who made his own modifications to Model 3 according to his ideas on the needs of the Cavalry, which were incorporated by Smith&Wesson in an 1875 model named in honor of the Major, thinking of obtaining important military contracts for the new revolver.
The S&W Model 3 originally used the .44 S&W American and .44 Russian cartridges, usually without stamping the information on their ammunition (a standard practice in most civilian weapons). Model 3 revolvers were subsequently produced to employ a wide variety of cartridges, including .44 Henry, .44-40, .32-44, .38-44 and .45 Schofield.
